Lounge access is bundled with most business and first-class fares, and on a long connection it changes the whole trip. Here is what it usually includes and how to use it well.
Business-class lounges
Expect quiet seating, complimentary food and drink, fast internet, and showers at larger hubs. It is a calm place to work or rest between flights instead of fighting for a seat at the gate.
First-class and flagship lounges
Flagship lounges raise the bar with à la carte dining, private rest areas and, at a few airports, spa treatments and direct boarding. Access depends on your cabin and the operating carrier.
Make the connection work for you
If your itinerary includes a long layover, a stronger lounge can be a reason to favour one routing over another. Ask the desk which lounges your ticket opens before you choose.
